My name is Jim Lundgren, and I am running for Cass County Commissioner to bring a fresh perspective, common-sense leadership, and a strong voice to District 3.
Annette and I have been connected to Cass County for more than four decades. Her grandfather purchased the family cabin in District 3 in 1960, and since 1980 we have built a lifelong connection to this community through family, friendships, and countless memories on the lakes and in the outdoors. In 2020, we purchased our retirement home and small farm, and in 2025 we became full-time residents.
Like many of you, we chose to make Cass County our permanent home because we value what makes this place special—its lakes and forests, strong communities, local businesses, and the hardworking people who call it home.
Throughout my 40-plus-year career in the private business sector, I have held business and leadership positions in the finance, construction and forestry equipment, compact equipment, and railway maintenance industries. These experiences provided extensive background in financial management, budgeting, strategic planning, contract negotiations, business operations, infrastructure and Railway Maintenance planning, and team leadership. Most importantly, they taught me the value of accountability, responsible stewardship of resources, and delivering results.
Today, Cass County faces important challenges and opportunities. Rising costs, increasing demands on county services, infrastructure needs, managing growth while preserving our quality of life, and maintaining a balanced budget through disciplined spending all require thoughtful leadership and long-term planning. I believe county government works best when decisions are guided by facts, fiscal responsibility, transparency, and a commitment to serving residents.
I also believe leadership starts with listening. Throughout this campaign, I have spent time meeting with residents, city & township officials, and local businesses across District 3. Those conversations continue to shape my focus and reinforce the importance of working collaboratively to find practical solutions that reflect the needs of the people.
I support the constitutional right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. The Second Amendment is a fundamental part of our Constitution, helping to safeguard individual freedoms and protect the rights of American citizens. I believe these constitutional protections should be preserved and respected.
As your County Commissioner, I will focus on responsible fiscal management, public safety and emergency services, strong township partnerships, economic growth and support for local businesses, infrastructure and transportation, protection of private property rights, natural resource stewardship, and accountable government.
I am running to bring experience, fresh perspective, and a commitment to thoughtful leadership that puts the interests of Cass County residents, locale businesses, cities & townships first. Every decision I make will be guided by common sense, accountability, respect, and a desire to preserve what makes Cass County a great place to live, work, raise a family, and retire.
